Lubbock Delegation to Recap 2021 Legislative Sessions

Last year was a particularly unique one from a state politics standpoint. The Texas Legislature convened for its scheduled regular session in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic with a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the state budget. A February winter storm and three special sessions later, the dust finally settled on 2021 from the Texas Capitol. The Lubbock area state delegation - Senator Charles Perry, Representative Dustin Burrows, and Representative John Frullo - will be the featured guests at this year's Legislative Appreciation Luncheon to recap all the action.

Some of the Chamber's top priorities saw considerable movement in the legislature last year. Some of our top priorities headed into the session were public education, broadband access, business liability reform, and the Texas Tech University System, and there was considerable movement on all of these. With Lubbock joining the ERCOT grid in May of 2021, grid reliability after the winter storm became a top priority as well. The Lubbock delegation will touch on the progress that was seen in each of these areas as well as what might be ahead in next year's session at the luncheon.

It will be the final Legislative Appreciation Luncheon for District 84 Representative John Frullo, who announced he will not be seeking re-election following a 12-year tenure as one of Lubbock's state reps. The Chamber is appreciative of Representative Frullo's service to Lubbock and the State of Texas, and look forward to celebrating his achievements in the legislature.

The luncheon will be held on Tuesday, February 22 at 11:30 a.m. at the CenterPointe Event Center. Tickets can be purchased online for $50, and Chamber members receive a discounted rate of $40. The deadline to register is February 15. For more information, visit the event page on the Lubbock Chamber website, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions. We hope to see you there!
