McKinney promoted to Managing Partner Of New York Life Insurance
We would like to congratulate and welcome Blake McKinney, Managing Partner, New York Life, to the West Texas General Office. Blake is a native West Texan and a Texas Tech University graduate. He completed his 20th year in management at New York Life in March 2019. He has a total of 23 years with the company!
In 1996, Blake began his career at New York Life as an agent in the Houston General Office. In 1999, Blake qualified and was given the opportunity to join the Houston leadership team.
In 2001, Blake was soon recognized as a Top 25 Sales Manager in the company and was promoted to Senior Partner. In 2006, Blake accepted the opportunity to become the Managing Partner of the Greater Oregon General Office. In late 2017, after twelve fun and successful years in Oregon, Blake was given the opportunity to return home to Texas and assist with the extraordinary growth of the Houston General Office as he awaited new opportunities.
While his New York Life career has taken him across the country, his roots are in West Texas. As mentioned, Blake was born and raised in West Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University. He taught math and coached high school football and baseball in Amarillo and Katy before launching a career in financial services.
“The most rewarding aspects of financial services are watching our client’s plans, we developed with them, come to fruition. It is very rewarding to see people retire on time, at the income level they want and having college planning in place that allows their children to be debt free after graduation. It is satisfying to help protect families and businesses financially, when untimely death occurs, and knowing we played a part in their plan.”
Blake and Andrea will celebrate their 30th anniversary this year. They have three children and one grandchild. Braxton, his wife Ashley and their son Baker live and work in Lubbock. Lillie and her husband JJ live and work in Central Kansas. And, Dane is a junior at Oregon State University. Blake and Andrea are thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the agents and communities in West Texas and the Panhandle.
Blake enjoys spending his free time with family and attending church activities. He likes to play golf and travel as well. His primary philanthropy, throughout the years, is Children’s Home of Lubbock. He was adopted by a wonderful family, through their services, over 50 years ago. “It is exciting to be back in Lubbock where I can actively participate in the community beyond financial involvement.”
