Ag in the Classroom
This annual teachers’ workshop gives teachers an opportunity to learn how to integrate agriculture into their everyday classroom instruction. Four hands-on sessions are offered: Cotton’s Journey: From Field to Fabric; Soil Science Activities for the Classroom; What the Heck is Biotech?; and Agriculture in Outer Space. Participants receive an Ag in the Classroom Resource Guide with lessons correlated to TEKS and TAKS objectives, and “Cotton’s Journey: A Field Trip in a Box.”
Registration is free thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, including Texas Farm Bureau, AgTexas Farm Credit Services, United Supermarkets and Chick-fil-A at South Plains Crossing (69th and Slide).
This year’s workshop was held Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the USDA-ARS Plant Stress Laboratory at 4th Street and Memphis Avenue in Lubbock.
Seven hours of Continuing Professional Education units are offered, three of which are in gifted and talented education.
