Earlier this week, a delegation from the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce visited Washington, D.C. to meet with elected officials and policy experts. The primary policy issues discussed were promotion of Interstate 27 expansion to Laredo, current workforce issues facing small businesses, and international trade plus the supply chain issues many Americans are experiencing.

On Monday night, we had dinner with Representative Jodey Arrington, who has represented Lubbock and the 19th Congressional District of Texas since 2017.



Tuesday morning, we visited freshman Representative Ronnie Jackson, who represents the Texas Panhandle and portions of North Texas in the 13th Congressional District.



To the south of Lubbock in the 11th Congressional District, Representative August Pfluger represents Midland-Odessa and San Angelo. It’s his first term in Congress following the retirement of former Representative Mike Conaway.



In the afternoon, we had visits with Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.




We stopped by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for policy briefings on transportation infrastructure, small business recovery, and education/workforce issues. Last but not least, we visited with the staff of U.S. Senator Ben Ray Lujan (New Mexico) regarding the Port-to-Plains corridor.



Advocating for businesses, employees, and consumers at all levels of government is a core part of the Lubbock Chamber’s mission. We always appreciate hearing from our members on policy concerns so we can relay information to elected officials on visits like these. We’re proud to be the voice of business for the Lubbock area.
