Congratulations to Paulene Salamon on being selected as the April Ambassador of the Month. Read Paulene's Q/A to get to know her a bit better.
Why did you choose to become an Ambassador for the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce? I knew when we started Kona Ice that getting involved with the community was where I needed to be, so I could start building business relationships in Lubbock.
How long have you been an ambassador? I have been an Ambassador going on two years.
Have you ever won this award before? I have had the pleasure of winning this award numerous times throughout the last year.
As an ambassador, what are some of your favorite events to attend? I enjoy all the events that the Chamber facilitates. However, the more intimate ones that allow a lot of one-on-one time with each other are the best.
What do you feel is the most rewarding part of being an ambassador? The most rewarding part is the network of great people I have come to have.
Why is being an ambassador important to you? It is an avenue that I use to educate everyone on who and what we do. It also allows me the opportunity to learn more about our local businesses.
Where do you work? I am an owner of Kona Ice of South Lubbock— a mobile shaved ice truck, or rather a party on wheels!
What all does your position entail? I handle the everyday operations of the business.
How long have you been with your current company? Kona Ice of South Lubbock is in its third season
Are you involved in any new activities/events with the Chamber? I am a part of numerous events at the Chamber, business Expo, BBQ, Uncorked and the Prayer Luncheon to name a few
Outside of the Chamber, what are you involved with? I also serve on Mosaics Board, CHS PTA, TW3, Tech Club Ambassador, Girl Scouts Desserts First CMT, West Texas Home Builders Auxiliary where I serve on numerous CMTS and ABWA (American Business Women's Assoc). There is an abundance of opportunities for one to serve in Lubbock, TX!
