Hello! My name is Paige Maring and for the last year, I have worked at the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce as the communications intern. I was interested in an internship with the Chamber because I wanted the opportunity to experience Chamber events, work, and learn from the staff and gain some valuable skills as I enter the workplace after college. I am thankful for all the time I’ve spent at the Chamber and during my last week have been reflecting on some of my favorite memories since I started.
 
Attending some of our community networking events has been one of the most unique and exciting parts of my experience at the Chamber. Being a part of the team at Business After Hours, Annual Meeting and the Hub City BBQ has opened the door for me to meet and form friendships with people around the Lubbock community that I will cherish! I will never forget almost being thrown out of the golf cart while riding around during preparation for BBQ or being able to take some fun pictures while dancing to some local Lubbock musicians.
 
Another one of the things that made working at the Chamber special was my relationships formed with members of the staff. I truly appreciate the welcoming nature and how willing to help me that each and every person was. I loved getting to know you all!
 
Being able to continue working and try out working from home was definitely another unique part of my year as an intern. The last few months of the COVID-19 crisis was not something any of us at the Chamber could have planned for but it taught me so much about being flexible and still working hard to reach your goals when things don’t go according to plan.
