Meet the November Ambassador of the Month!

Ruth Elder, office manager at Blair Chiropractic Clinic, is the November Ambassador of the Month.

Elder became an Ambassador shortly after moving to Lubbock in November. 2017.

"I became an Ambassador immediately upon moving here, because I felt this would be the best and quickest way to get to know and get involved in the Lubbock community," Elder said.

Elder said as the owner of a long-standing local business it is important for her and her husband to serve the community.

“It is my life passion and purpose to help people who suffer with pain get better. The only way to do that is to get to know people and find out who they are, what makes them tick and what can we do to best serve them,” Elder said.

Elder said the most rewarding part of being an Ambassador is getting to meet new people, and she is a “people person” so she likes getting to know people. She said she has spent the last year learning, and goes to each event with an open mind.

“I like all the events for different reasons. Ribbon Cuttings are great for celebrating and knowing about all the great variety of businesses that serve this community," Elder said, "Business After Hours are great for building relationships and the lunches are a great way to learn more in depth about what is going on, I especially like hearing about the great non-profit involvement and volunteer opportunities.”

Elder said her husband, Dr. Gordon Elder, bought the Chiropractic clinic in January 2018, and her husband is the third director since Dr. William Blair founded the clinic in 1949. She said she got her life back after living with chronic pain thanks to discoveries, in chiropractic care, made by Dr. Blair.

“The most important part of my job is getting the word out about who can
benefit from Blair Upper Cervical specific chiropractic care and being a Chamber Ambassador has helped greatly with this part. Other responsibilities include whatever needs to be done except being a doctor,” Elder said.

Elder said she has worked at the chiropractic clinic for a year, but has 24 years of experience working with a Blair Upper Cervical chiropractic practice.

Elder said she recently joined the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), an organization that helps develop women in business. She keeps her life busy with other activities aside from the Ambassadors.

“My kids are involved in IB, band, choir, swimming, and theater - so opportunities for volunteering are plentiful. I am also an active member of Live Oak Community Church. Cooking takes up some of my time, as I am passionate about daily, homemade, family dinners. For fun I teach fitness classes at Zach's Club and the YWCA,” Elder said
