An overwhelming 87% of the Lubbock residents surveyed in the early stages of Imagine Lubbock Together said that entertainment options are important to them, so the steering committee set off to expand and improve Lubbock’s role as a cultural center.

Supporting dedicated organizations like the Lubbock Entertainment and Performing Arts Association, ILT is pleased to see a brand new venue is in the works.

On March 27, 2015, LEPAA unveiled the designs for the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences and announced the next phase of the project.

The site of the new performing arts center was donated by the City of Lubbock, which demolished the former DPS building previously occupying the space late last year. While ground has not officially been broken, the three year project is expected to be completed in 2018

LEPAA is continually raising money for the project. To donate, please visit http://lepaa.org/contribute/.

    What’s Next?

More than building a world-class performing arts center, the community also envisioned a new equestrian center, a clear plan for the future of the City Bank Auditorium and Coliseum and the Civic Center as well as a partnership between community leaders and local artists to engage the arts in the downtown redevelopment process.
